Fresh controversy is swirling around mail-in ballots. President Trump said he doesn't want to provide much-needed funding for the US Postal Service because he doesn't want to see it used for mail-in voting this November. His comments add fuel to widespread concern that he and his supporters are trying to manipulate the post office for political gain and endanger the pandemic-fueled push for more voting options. In addition, the USPS plans to remove hundreds of high-volume mail-processing machines from facilities across the country, leading postal workers to fear they may have less capacity to process mail during the expected election season rush

Trump reprises one of this greatest (non-Covid) hits as the pandemic continues to tank his chances at re-election.  There is no low where he won't go.

President Trump, in an echo of his false birtherism claims against President Barack Obama, said questions raised by one of his campaign advisers about the eligibility of Sen. Kamala D. Harris (D-Calif.) to run for vice president were “very serious.”
Harris was born in Oakland, Calif., and is, by the laws of the Constitution, a U.S. citizen. But some birther conspiracy theorists say, wrongly, that her parents’ immigration status at the time of her birth makes her ineligible. Trump’s remarks were a reprise of his past false allegation that Obama was born in Kenya rather than in Hawaii and thus ineligible to serve.

… and today, while our economy is performing significantly better than Europe, which people have to understand very strongly, it’s performing better than any market anywhere in the world, actually. At the same time, Europe has experienced a 40% higher excess mortality than the United States. And I will say that that’s a significant number. We’re working with Europe on their difficulties and we are going to help them all the way.

With the greatest difficulties yet to come for the U.S.

It’s true that cases are rapidly rising in Europe, but the numbers are nowhere near the level of infection in the United States. The US added 49,536 new cases on Monday, a day that consistently sees lower numbers. The US is averaging 54,409 new cases over the last seven days, which is up slightly from the previous few days. However, the percent change from the prior week in cases is down 10%, not 20% as the President claimed.

Moments later, Trump blamed China while discussing extending a freeze on home evictions due to the pandemic. He signed an executive order Saturday extending the federal protections from evictions after a moratorium lapsed in late July.
“It’s not their fault. The virus came from China. It’s China’s fault,” he said.
Using a racially charged term, Trump also claimed nearly half of all deaths in the U.S. from the “China virus” are in nursing homes and long-term care facilities.

There is a kind of machismo inherent in taking risks during a pandemic—an attitude that has been on display nationally every time Trump plans (or attempts to plan) a rally—which is particularly potent in a state like Texas, where the appeal of strongman politics mixes easily with the come-and-take-it troublemaking of gun-rights circles. The Web site for the R.P.T. notes that “early Texans lived, loved and died entirely by their own efforts without relying on government to fulfill their needs. Just like modern Texans, early settlers believed in families, churches and neighbors, not in bureaucracy. That sense of self-respect and self-reliance is still the envy of the world.”

When asked by a reporter why $400 instead of the previous $600, Trump responded: “This is the money they need, this is the money they want, this gives them a great incentive to go back to work." Trump went on to say, “there was a difficulty with the 600 number because it really was a disincentive.”

Over the past three months, the United States has surpassed market expectations by a total of 12 million new jobs. Over the last three months, the United States has added 623,000 manufacturing jobs. Remember you’d need a magic wand to get manufacturing jobs. And we’re getting them even in a pandemic, which is disappearing. It’s going to disappear.  [emphasis added]

Factor into that the loss of more than 20 million jobs since the start of the pandemic.

Asked on the Geraldo Rivera radio program when a vaccine might be ready, Trump said, “Sooner than the end of the year, could be much sooner.”
“Sooner than November 3?” he was asked.
“I think in some cases, yes possible before, but right around that time,” Trump said.
Later at the White House, Trump said he was optimistic a vaccine would be available around that date. Asked if it would help him in the election, he said, “It wouldn’t hurt. But I’m doing it, not for the election; I want to save a lot of lives.”

Very little happened, vaccine-wise, until January 2021.

“It’s going away. It’ll go away. Things go away. No question in my mind that it will go away,” Trump said during a White House press briefing.
Trump applauded the country’s coronavirus vaccine and therapeutic development, saying it has had “tremendous success” and is “ready to deliver them literally as soon” as they’re approved.

“They are dying. That’s true, and — it is what it is,” Trump said. “But that doesn’t mean we aren’t doing everything we can. It’s under control as much as you can control it,” Trump said in the interview, which took place July 28 and aired Monday night on HBO. “
You really think this is as much as we can control it?” Swan asked. “A thousand deaths a day?”
“ First of all, we have done a great job,” Trump replied, focusing on how governors have handled the crisis in their own states rather than him taking personal responsibility. “I could tell you right now who the great ones are and who the not-so-great ones are. But the governors do it. We gave them massive amounts of material.”

"We are beginning to see evidence of significant progress," Trump said Monday evening in a press conference, even as coronavirus cases increase in roughly 15 states and deaths have increase in 35. "The virus is receding."

Yeah, right.  With only 14.2% of the total number of COVID-19 cases reported as of August 3, 2020.

Sooooooooooooo wrong from the start
The latest daily briefing came as the number of infections and deaths from the COVID-19 virus continued to rise in the U.S., prompting drastic action at every level of government to try to mitigate its spread.
Asked when the U.S. might expect to turn a corner in its efforts to rein in the virus, Trump said that “If we do a really good job, we’ll not only hold the death down to a level that is much lower than the other way, had we not done a good job, but people are talking about July, August, something like that.”
What you just read is absolute gibberish.
