Very Early Vote Tally Gives Troy Public Library a Boost

Troy library millage results slowly coming in. (Oakland Press, 8/2/2011)

Excerpt:  The fate of the Troy Public Library is left in the hands of voters who were asked to weigh in on a 0.7-mill levy in Tuesday’s special election.

At 8:30 p.m., only one of the city’s 31 voting precincts reported an unofficial win, according to Phillip Kwik, head of public service of the Troy Public Library.

“A poll worker at Precinct 15 near Livernois and Wattles told me they won by 80 votes,” Kwik said. “It was a precinct that lost in the last election. “

Kwik also said he heard that from poll workers that turnout was about 50% on the single-issue ballot
