Brianne Pfannenstiel writes:
Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds has made paid leave a legislative priority this year, introducing a proposal for the third year in a row that would provide four weeks of paid leave to state employees who give birth, as well as one week of paid leave for parents who do not give birth.
The plan also provides four weeks of paid leave for adoptive parents.
But it faces hurdles. None of Reynolds’ previously introduced bills advanced to a floor vote in either chamber of the Republican-controlled Legislature.
