Less than 2 months later, the title was changed to "The Phil Silvers Show".
The program ran for 4 seasons, the majority of its episodes broadcast on Tuesday evenings from 8:00 to 8:30. It was the 22nd most popular show during the 1956-57 season. Otherwise, it never cracked the Nielsen top 25.
"The Phil Silvers Show" won the following Emmy awards:
- 1956. Best Director-Film Series, Nat Hiken
- 1957. Best Comedy Writing - Variety or Situation Comedy (6 recipients)
- 1958. Best Comedy Series.
- 1958. Best Comedy Writing. (9 recipients)
Along with "The Phil Silvers Show", two other of my favorite TV shows premiered during September 1955: "The Honeymooners" and "Alfred Hitchcock Presents".
