Focus on Dane County: Gravel blasting irks Fitchburg residents.  (Wisconsin State Journal, 8/21/2015)

With Wisconsin Republicans working overtime to take away local control, I suspect Wingra Stone feels comfortable taking a 'flexible' approach to public relations.

Fitchburg has a blasting ordinance that requires notification of residents before blasts, monitoring of seismic activity, and establishment of safety measures.

But Arnold said it’s unclear to what extent the city can enforce its ordinance because the quarry predates the ordinance’s adoption.

In an email notification to nearby residents, Wingra Stone said it plans to do two blasts between 9 a.m. and noon Friday. The company already did two blasts at the site on Tuesday.

And of course, Wingra Stone did not respond to requests for comment Thursday.

Since 1993, the Shea family has donated total of $32,438 to mostly Republican candidates.
