Pekin Public Library Provides Shelter from the Aftermath of the Storm
Local officials dealing with aftermath. (Pekin Times, 11/18/2013)
Excerpt: Pekin Police Department Public Information Officer Mike Eeten said Monday morning that the curfew will again run from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., in order to protect property there that has been damaged and to keep cleanup operations running smoothly. Eeten said there will be a heavy "police saturation" of all areas damaged by Sunday's tornado. Illinois Route 29 and Parkway Drive will be open, but cars will not be allowed into the affected area.
The department upgraded its damage count from 100 homes to 150 homes. Of that number, 45 single-family dwellings and one duplex have been deemed uninhabitable.
