Standard and Nonstandard Halloween Decorations

Spotted during today's meandering walk to the post office, Sue's Hallmark, and Willy Street Food Coop.  (Photos by Retiring Guy.)

Standard

Quite a few Middleton households along the 7000 and 7100 stretch of Elmwood Avenue appear to be big fans of the current season.

Nonstandard

I saw this desiccated animal -- or what appears to be a desiccated animal -- clearly visible along the path that provides access to Woodside Heights Park from South Avenue in Middleton. Considering the number of walkers, joggers, and bicyclists that regularly use this path, I suspect it's a "plant" to give people an unexpected jolt during Halloween week.  If so, it worked its spooky effect on me; I snapped this photo and quickly moved on.
