Assembly Speaker Robin Vos hopes the Republican-controlled Legislature can introduce amendments to the state's abortion ban or write a new law that will be signed by Gov. Tony Evers so the state Supreme Court doesn't have to weigh in, but the governor has said he wouldn't sign a bill unless it codifies abortion rules in place under the five decades of Roe v. Wade.
"I hope Governor Evers can have a legitimate conversation about where middle ground can be," Vos said during a recent WisPolitics luncheon. "We don't want to have a Supreme Court race that is supposed to be about dozens of issues being about one topic that shouldn't be determined by the court."
