The meeting was filled with more than a dozen people. Many of those in attendance voiced their concerns about allowing weapons inside a place many call a safe haven.
"They can talk about soft targets all they want, but chances of something happening once you allow guns in a place like this... I just think it sends a really bad message," said Greg Hatt, who has lived in Oconomowoc for more than 20 years.
Both sides were emotionally tied to this decision.
"I think we live in rather dangerous times and I think the change allows people to defend themselves should the need arise and God forbid that happens," Oconomowoc Alderman Matt Rosek said.
The wording of the agenda item is vague.
