But not a peep from spineless Louisiana GOP U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D.

Headline:  New York Times, 12/3/2025

Rylee Kirk reports:
In an article published Wednesday in The New England Journal of Medicine, 12 former Food and Drug Administration commissioners sharply criticized anticipated changes to vaccine policy that were detailed in a leaked memo from an agency official.
“We are deeply concerned by sweeping new F.D.A. assertions about vaccine safety and proposals that would undermine a regulatory model designed to ensure that vaccines are safe, effective and available when the public needs them most,” the former commissioners wrote.
The former commissioners, including four from the first Trump administration, were responding to a memo written by Dr. Vinay Prasad, the director of the F.D.A.’s vaccine division. He sent it to agency staff members on Friday, outlining findings from a review of reports concerning 10 childhood deaths and attributing them to myocarditis, or inflammation of the heart muscle, after receiving a Covid-19 shot. [emphasis added]

And what say you, Sen. M.D.?

Powering the consumer marketplace in the Trump era: Buy now, pay the consequences later!

Headline:  New York Times, 12/3/2025

But shoppers struggling with inflation and economic uncertainty have sought out sales and turned to coupon finders and cash-back services throughout the year. Feeling stretched by the ripple effects of tariffs and high interest rates, people are stacking discounts and using “buy now, pay later” at checkout, too
“Consumers have faced several years of rising costs, and what we’re seeing now is resilience turning into strategy,” said Magali Darling, the chief commercial officer at RetailMeNot, a company that offers discount coupons and cash-back options on some purchases. “It’s a long-term shift in how consumers approach spending, with a stronger focus on making every dollar work harder.

Even those dollars they don't have yet!

Lock 'em up: South Dakota is the parade marshal of United States' world-leading incarceration rate for women

Headline:  South Dakota Searchlight, 12/4/2025

Seth Tupper reports:
No other place in the world incarcerates women at a higher rate than South Dakota, according to research by a prison-focused nonprofit, and the construction of a second women’s prison in the state could be viewed as a continuation of that trend.
The new leader of the state’s prison system said Thursday it’s the start of a turnaround.
“It’s not going to show overnight,” said Nick Lamb, “but it will show in a few years. You’ll see a substantial decrease.”

Housing development proposed on South Park in Madison WIsconsin

Headline and rendering:  Wisconsin State Journal, 12/5/2025

Madison developer has proposed a striking four-story apartment building on South Park Street near its intersection with Fish Hatchery Road.
Early designs from Threshold Development Group and Threshold Builds show a gray-green structure with a mix of flat and barrel roofs at 999 S. Park St., where West Lakeside Street meets South Park Street at a diagonal. Brick at the building’s ground level gives way to a pair of curved sections with metal sides and roofs, both angled toward West Lakeside Street to create two triangular patios facing South Park Street.
The curved roofs “seemed like a softer way to form metal,” said Jake DeHaven, who leads design for Threshold Builds, at an Urban Design Commission meeting Wednesday. “Metal can be really harsh, but it's a great material. It's a rainscreen. It's affordable. It's durable.

White House ballroom update: Trump sez au revoir to McCrery Architects

Headline:  The Architect's Newspaper, 12/4/2025

The Washington Post reported that McCrery stepped down from the project in October. It was his firm’s size and inability to meet deadlines that were the determining factors. Trump and McCrery are still on good terms. “Everybody realized he couldn’t do it,” an anonymous White House staffer said.
Shalom Baranes Associates was founded in 1981. Some of its notable projects include its work on the Pentagon, a complete modernization and restoration of the U.S. Treasury Building and U.S. Department of Interiors headquarters, the GSA National Headquarters, and the American Red Cross Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Albert Sun reports for the Times on the performative actions of ICE agents:
The federal deployments that have swept through major cities as part of President Trump’s immigration crackdown have led to thousands of arrests. But they have been less effective at apprehending immigrants with a criminal record than more routine operations elsewhere, new data shows.
In high-profile Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations in Los Angeles; Chicago; Washington, D.C.; and across Massachusetts, more than half of those arrested had no criminal record, compared with a third of immigrants arrested nationwide.
The Trump administration has said that the aggressive operations are necessary because so-called sanctuary city policies have made it harder for ICE agents to go after immigrants who have committed crimes. It has deployed other federal forces, including Border Patrol and the National Guard, to expand its crackdown.
The operations have upended life for many residents and prompted protests and backlash. Local leaders say they have done little to make their cities safer[emphasis added]

GET ME REWRITE: Donald Trump, 79, fumes when he's not sleeping

Could those fumes be coming from his adult diaper?

Headline:  Daily Beast, 12/5/2025

This week was apparently particularly bad, as footage of him appearing to fight off sleep during a Cabinet meeting led to a new string of reports comparing him to his predecessor, Joe Biden, whom he’d famously dubbed “Sleepy Joe” and mocked for his old age.
Sources familiar with internal discussions say Trump, 79, was left fuming as a growing stream of reporting from publications including the New York Times, the Washington Post, and CNN, scrutinized the signs of his apparent deteriorating health, according to Zeteo.
This week, AFP published an opinion piece titled: “Sleepy Don? Trump’s Health Under Fresh Scrutiny,” while the Daily Beast published another headlined: “How Sleepy Trump, 79, Became the D.C. Sequel Nobody Wanted to See.”

MISCREANT PREACHERS: Child pornography in the Name of the Lord (#210 in a series)

 Mugshot and headline:  Click2Houston, 12/3/2025

Gina Silva ports:
Carter August Thomas, 27, was arrested on Nov. 26 and charged with one felony count of possession of child pornography.
According to court documents, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office was first alerted in August, when deputies received an email from someone who claimed Thomas had admitted to them that he struggled with viewing child abuse material online.
At the time of that confession, records show Thomas was volunteering with youth at Second Baptist Church, where his duties included supervising children.
HCSO deputies later executed a search warrant at Thomas’ home in Harris County. There, they spoke with a family member who also said Thomas had confided that he struggled with viewing “that kind of material.”
"Or do you not know that the unrighteous1 will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."  (1 Corinthians 6:9–10)
