GET ME REWRITE: Trump-appointed judge sides with far-right members of Ottawa impact

Headlinemlive, 8/16/2024
A federal judge on Thursday, Aug. 15, ruled she would not issue a preliminary injunction to reinstate Ottawa County District 2 Commissioner Chris Kleinjans to his job as a Michigan State University community nutrition instructor.
Judge Hala Jarbou, in a written opinion, said Kleinjans and his attorney simply did not provide enough evidence of political pressure to support an injunction.

U.S. 40 Cross Section of the United States of America (Chapter 12: Mount Prospect)

That was then (1953)

Intro to chapter 12:
Mount Prospect, 201 West Washington Street, in Hagerstown, Maryland, was built in 1789 by Nathaniel Rochester, who had served in the Revolution as a paymaster.  His name is widely knowns because he because at a later date he founded Rochester, New York.  His Hagerstown residency proves Colonel Rochester to have been a man of taste, and it is as handsome a historic structure as anywhere faces the three-thousand-mile course of U.S. 40.

This is now.   Mount Prospect was demolished in the mid-1950s.  You can read more about the residence here.

GET ME REWRITE: Republican who won 8-way primary with 38.8% of the vote and sez women are 'too mouthy' is GOP sacrificial lamb in Minnesota US Senate race against incumbent Amy Klobuchar

HeadlineHuffPost, 8/13/2024
Royce White, a former NBA player and current devotee of ex-President Donald Trump, won the Minnesota Republican Party’s Senate primary on Tuesday.
White had secured an eyebrow-raising endorsement from the Minnesota GOP back in May, although he was certain to face formidable odds if he managed to challenge Democratic incumbent Sen. Amy Klobuchar on Nov. 5.
The basketball player, once hailed for progressive mental health activism, led Black Lives Matter protests in Minneapolis after the death of George Floyd. But more recently, White has made a name for himself with inflammatory comments about women, Jewish people and the LGBTQ community, leaning into conspiracy theories popular in far-right corners of the internet.
White now counts among his allies Steve Bannon, the Trump adviser-turned-felon, and Alex Jones, the far-right showman who spread lies about victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting and now owes their families $1.5 billion.

According to Merriam-Webster, the first-known use of the idiom 'sacrificial lamb', as in someone or something that is deliberately sacrificed to promote a cause or for the benefit of others, occurred in 1834.

Research has shown migrants are no more likely to commit crimes than native-born Americans.
The fictional movie takes place in 19th century New York and features a feud between rival gangs of different backgrounds. The main character is an Irish immigrant seeking to avenge his father’s killing.

GET ME REWRITE: Flibbertigibbet Moms for Liberty push Wisconsin school boards to go back to a LBGTQ+ Stone Age

HeadlineMilwaukee Journal Sentinel, 8/16/2024
Self-described parental rights group Moms for Liberty calls for restrictions on how race, gender and sexuality are addressed in schools. The group advocates for book bans and an end to gender-affirming care, which is backed by leading medical groups.
Moms for Liberty has recently gained traction nationally and statewide, with its members appearing at high-profile events like the Republican National Convention.
Last year, the Southern Poverty Law Center labeled Moms for Liberty an extremist group.

Meshawn Maddock, a former co-chair of the Michigan Republican party, has given more than $1,800 to Trump and allied fundraising groups this campaign cycle, according to federal campaign finance records. Maddock is one of the 16 fake electors in Michigan who were criminally charged by Dana Nessel, the Democratic Michigan attorney general, last summer and has pleaded not guilty. Tyler Bowyer, who has also pleaded not guilty for his role as a fake elector in Arizona, donated $645 this year to Trump.
