GET ME REWRITE: Incompetent members of Ottawa Impact stumble to the finish line in "turmoil-filled year"

Both Wetmore and Epperson were hired in 2023 under the leadership of county Board Chair Joe Moss, co-founder of the highly conservative political platform Ottawa Impact.
And both came to the county amid controversy or scrutiny over their backgrounds.
Epperson played a role in a significant lawsuit filed against Ottawa County in October after it was revealed that he was given the executive aide job over a better qualified candidate.
That candidate, Ryan Kimball, filed a lawsuit and eventually won a $225,000 settlement against the county.
Testimony showed that then-Administrator John Gibbs wanted to hire Epperson because he wanted someone he could “boss around.” Epperson was 23 at the time.
