It’s the second major announcement in the last three weeks about legal awards or fees being paid out by Ottawa County.
In late August, a Muskegon judge determined Ottawa County would be on the hook for $188,000 in legal fees owed to the attorney representing county Health Officer Adeline Hambley.
Hambley was involved in a lengthy lawsuit against the county after Ottawa County commissioners, led by a majority faction tied to the ultra-conservative platform Ottawa Impact, tried to fire her in January 2023. She ultimately retained her job.
In the Kimball lawsuit, he complained that 23-year-old Jordan Epperson was chosen as senior executive aide to then-Administrator John Gibbs.
