Area resident announces candidacy for assembly.  (The Sun, 1/24/2012)

Excerpt: Bever has lived in Polk County for 15 years and is currently the high school band director for Unity School District. Bever and his wife, Julie, have three adopted children, Scott, 16, Kiera, 12, and Laif, 8.

The driving force behind Bever's candidacy is a call to civic duty.

"I'm not a very experienced (politician), but I care about people, and I care about this area," Bever said to the crowd during his speech. "It will be my responsibility to listen to everyone. A representative is a servant of the people, and I feel that I have the gifts and talents to do this job."

Bever said he believes his experiences in the district the last 15 years have helped him to understand the needs of its constituency.
