Hello, America! Are you ready for an autocracy led by Supreme Leader Donald Trump?

Reported in Key Moments in Trump’s Interview on ‘Fox and Friends,’ With Fact Checks.  (The New York Times, 6/15/2018)

"Get Ready", the 1st of 3 top 10 singles by Rare Earth, debuted at #91 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week ending March 14, 1970.  It spent 20 weeks on the chart, not reaching the top 10 until week 13, peaking at #4 for 2 weeks.

Block’s decision not to run the letters to the editor, one submitted by the union representing more than 150 of the paper’s current newsroom employees and one submitted by more than two dozen former Post-Gazette employees, marked the latest chapter in an ongoing and increasingly public rift between the paper’s ownership and the paper’s staff.

[Rob] Rogers has been the editorial cartoonist for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette for more than 25 years. Most working cartoonists have had an occasional idea spiked by his or her editor. But in the past few weeks, editorial director Keith Burris and publisher John Robinson Block have refused to publish six of Rogers’s cartoons, all criticizing Trump or his policies. Block and Burris have also rejected many of Rogers’s rough sketch ideas for several months.

Sessions cites Bible verse to defend Trump's immigration policy, raises Christians' ire.  (USA Today, 6/15/2018)
Sessions said the goal of the policy is not "to see if we can be mean to children." He said the point is to crack down on potential child trafficking or abuse and discourage parents from bringing their children on the often-dangerous border crossing.
Wednesday, prior to Sessions' speech, a group of religious leaders from the United Methodist Church, Islamic Society of North America, Union for Reform Judaism, Mennonite Church and 20 other diverse religious organizations released a joint statement criticizing the policy.

That's why her original Bloom Bake Shop in Middleton won't be "Bloom Bake Shop" in a couple of weeks.
It’ll be “Bloom Bindery,” a cookie bakery, coffeehouse and bookstore. The for-profit company has a mission to promote a love of reading, with a portion of cookie sales going to local literacy initiatives. The shop will open on Friday, June 1.
The above photo was taken yesterday -- June 14.

Retiring Guy will keep you posted.

For young men, traditional roles of childhood and fatherhood have become unmoored in recent years.
Millennials, for example, have started leaving pricey city centers and are moving to the suburbs . And young people are living at home longer than ever , according to a Pew Research Center study, because of high housing costs and lower marriage rates, which is upending the traditional timeline when young urbanites marry, have children and move to the suburbs.

A frenzy of ants (2018)

Current conditions

  2016

What’s with the ant swarms in sidewalk cracks in summer?  (DragonFlyEye, 7/20/2012)
The swarming behavior we see is actually a moving party: whereas the ants would normally be content to stay in their burrows most of the time, when the colony gets to big or cannot be supported by the environment, it splits off with a new queen to form an entirely new colony elsewhere. That would be why you see them – not simply swarming – but trailing off in a certain direction. It is very common to see these moving parties during the mid-summer months specifically because of the extended heat of summer.

The chutzpah chronicles: Scott Walker bemoans the influx of out-of-state money and attacks in political campaigns

But when it comes to his own out-of-state donors (see table below), silence reigns.

International Business Times, 5/27/2017

His name is Uihlein, Richard Uihlein, and he's been at it for more than a year.
Sixteen months before Wisconsin Democrat Sen. Tammy Baldwin will have a Republican opponent in the 2018 Senate race, more than a million dollars worth of TV and radio ads attacking her have already run across the state. The ads were paid for by two out-of-state super PACs funded almost entirely by one man: conservative mega-donor Richard Uihlein, who seems to have made it a personal mission to defeat Baldwin in next year's election.
