It's a good thing: Donald Trump channels Paul Revere & the Raiders

Quoted in Donald Trump to evangelicals: Make me president and I’ll ‘bring back’ church attendance.  (DeadState, 8/12/2016)

"Good Thing" made its debut on the Billboard Hot 100 on December 3, 1966.  It charted for 12 weeks, peaking at #4.

Trump was a student at the Wharton School of Business at the time.

And ever since that time, Sunday School has been one of his main topics of conversation.

GOP rally in La Crosse: It might be a crowd, but the room is certainly not crowded

An estimated 300 attend the rally in a meeting space with way too many chairs set up.  That's why they have room dividers.

Other Republicans in attendance at this yawnfest:
  • Gov. Scott Walker
  • Rep. Sean Duffy
  • Former State Sen. Dan Kapanke (running against current State Sen. Jen Shilling, D-La Crosse)

Manitowoc Company, city's 2nd largest employer, moving 500 jobs to the Keystone State

Once upon a time, the Mirro Corporation employed more than 2,000.   The cookware manufacturer closed this production facility in 2003.

500 to lose jobs at Manitowoc Company.  (Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter, 8/11/2016)
Where's WEDC when you really need them.  "It will be a real dent in our community," Reis said of the loss of crawler crane manufacturing in Manitowoc. "We lost Hamilton, we lost Mirro and this is another thing we are losing. These are high-paying jobs, and we're losing the professionals associated with it. To me, it is a sad day from a community standpoint, because we need all the companies we can have here."

Pennsylvania's Route 6: A recommended bucket-list drive

It's a mostly 2-lane, curvy, undulating, take-your-time highway across the northern tier of Pennsylvania.  The Tunkhannock-to-Towanda stretch offers the most spectacular views.  Due to my Warren PA/Boston-Springfield MA connections, I drove this route numerous times in summer and fall from the mid-70s into early 80s.  It added a couple of hours to the trip, including time for picture-taking, but the scenery was well worth the extra time.

I still like to take the scenic route when time allows.

Yup, the slide digitizing project continues.

Wisconsin public libraries: Annual materials expenditures, books/serials added, AV added

All 3 categories show a slight uptick in 2015 compared to the previous year.
  • 1.4% - print
  • 0.3% - audiovisual
  • 1.5% - electronic

Book and serial volumes added has decreased 20/8% since its 2008 peak.

The gap between audio and video titles added per year continues to expand, which is a bit disappointing to me.

I can't remember the last time I checked out a video from a library.  My primary sources for recorded music nowadays are Sirius/XM, Spotify, and Luxuria.  On the other hand, I remain a big fan of books on CD, a physical format, and am currently listening to -- and greatly enjoying -- Anne Tyler's Vinegar Girl.

Searching for Scott Harbach's fan base in Dane County

According to the election results at the Dane County Clerk's office website, Scott Harbach received 5.9% of the vote in the U.S. Senator Democratic primary yesterday -- a total of 3,975 votes compared to Feingold's 63,510.

A review of the precinct results allowed me to determine the following percentages and where, it would seem, the crossovers are.
