Roy Gruber reports:
North America’s latest occurrences of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in commercial poultry have been confirmed in Michigan and British Columbia.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) and the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) reported that on November 10, the presence of HPAI was confirmed in Allegan County. There, a flock of 35,600 commercial meat turkeys was affected.
This is the sixth commercial flock in Michigan to be hit by HPAI in Michigan in 2025, but only the first in Allegan County, as the other five were all in Ottawa County. The only other time HPAI was confirmed in Allegan County during the entire 2022-25 outbreak involved a backyard flock.
