Roy Graber reports:
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) reported that the case was confirmed on October 27 and the flock included 57,300 ducks.
This is the first commercial poultry operation in California to be struck by HPAI since February. Three flocks in the state during that month were hit by the virus, including a broiler flock in Merced County, and turkey flocks in Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties.
So far this fall, in addition to California, HPAI has been confirmed in commercial poultry flocks in the following states: Georgia, Washington, Utah, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan and Indiana.
