A closer look at Wisconsin's population loss: Waushara County

The population of Waushara County follows a general pattern we've seen before.  The county experienced a period of sustained growth after its founding.  In this case, it lasted until 1910, when the population initially peaked at 18,886.  Decline followed growth, to the tune of a 28% population loss by 1960.  Another period of growth followed, which results in a population increase of 81%.  Since the 2010 census, Waushara County has lost an estimated 463 residents, or 1.9% of its population.

The City of Wautoma is the county seat.
