Wisconsin 2024 elections: Democrat Mike Bare announces candidacy for 80th Assembly District

Mike Bare (D-Verona) was first elected to the 80th Assembly District in November 2022.  He previously served on the Dane County Board of Supervisors (2020-2023) and the Verona City Council (2013-2014).

Two years ago, Bare ran for the State Assembly and won by knocking on 11,245 doors. The top issue that arose from voters was a dysfunctional democracy, according to the release.
“The Republican majority evaded accountability to the will of the people by protecting themselves with gerrymandered maps,” the release states. “This new map will help restore voters’ confidence in our state’s democracy.”
The new legislative map significantly reconfigured the 80th Assembly District, where Bare intends to run for reelection.
