Garfield Heights' population peaked at 41,417 in 1970.  Its 2017 estimated population is 27,835 -- a drop of 13,582 (33%).

Incorporated as the Village of South Newburgh in 1903 and the City of Garfield Heights in 1939, Garfield Heights is a southern inner-ring suburb.
