Avian flu hits Iowa turkey flock

The presence of the virus was confirmed on October 2, but when the case was first announced by APHIS and the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS), flock size information was not yet disclosed. 

This is the first time a commercial poultry flock in Iowa has been struck by HPAI since March 17.
