Wisconsin Municipalities Impose Restrictions on Concealed Carry
Municipalities putting shackles on concealed carry. Move on to impose local restrictions. (Appleton Post-Crescent, 9/21/2011)
Excerpt: Although the state law bans concealed weapons from some government buildings — including law enforcement offices, prisons, jails, courthouses and school grounds — the law does not specifically mandate protections for other public spaces, such as city hall buildings or civic centers.
That decision is left to local governments.
But some local officials say the law’s wording is vague and doesn’t offer clear guidance for how to institute a ban at the municipal level, be it through an ordinance or administrative policy.
