Julian Walters’ $17 million, 44-unit Park Lofts building at 1150 S. Park St. includes 11 units dedicated to young adults who aged out of foster care. There is also office space for JustDane, which will provide these residents with individualized supportive services to help them land on their feet.
The first residents will move in Monday. Already, Walters said, seven of the 11 units for former foster youth have been leased, and several more potential tenants are in processing for the remaining units.
The mission is personal for Walters. Now 31, he was born into foster care while his mother, Jacquelyn Hunt, was incarcerated. Hunt later regained custody of Walters and her older children, who had been staying with a relative.
