She plans to vote for Republican nominee Donald Trump in November because she thinks he’s better suited to address the needs of the average American than Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

That rural yearning turned out to be a big bonanza for Trump in Iowa. Obama won the county by small margins -- 4 percentage points in 2008 and 3.9 in 2012. Trump, on the other hand, won the county bhy considerable margins -- 27.4 percentage points in 2016 and 31.6 in 2020. His MAGA message resonated with white people across a very white state.
Meanwhile, the state's rural population continues to decline.
