100 Years of Frank Sinatra: "You'll Never Know"
Frank Sinatra recorded "You'll Never Know" in New York City in June 1943. The Popular Song website ranks it as #26 among the top popular songs of the year.
Music by Harry Warren ("That's Amore", "There Will Never Be Another You"). Lyrics by Mack Gordon ("Chattanooga Choo Choo", "Down Argentine Way").
The song was inspired by a poem written by Dorothy Fern Norris, a war bride from Oklahoma whose husband was fighting in World War II.
Sung by Alice Faye, the song was introduced in the movie Hello, Frisco, Hello and won the Academy Award for 'Best Original Song'.
In the meantime, I'll never know exactly when or where this group photo was taken. It might have during my dad's Augustana Seminary internship in New England, although I think he would have been balder, other photos from this period of his life providing the evidence. (Dad is at the far left in the 3rd row.)
