Sidney Swings Both Ways
Master Sidney had a pretty good run from 1880 to 1924, a period when it ranged in popularity from 86 to 124. This relatively steady performance was followed by a long, slow decline until the late 1990s, at which point the bottom fell out.
Miss Sidney has experienced a meteoric rise and fall since 1990, rocketing from 922 to 258 in ten years but then going into a nose dive since then.
According to babynames.com, Sidney is a contraction of St. Denys.
There were no Sidneys, boys or girls, in the Warren Area High School class of 1968.
