Fort Atkinson Library Now Open in Temporary Quarters

Excerpt:   The spirit of the Dwight Foster Public Library has been transferred across town, along with all the books, periodicals, CDs, computers and staff.

The Fort Atkinson library reopened today at its temporary location at 790 W. Rockwell Ave. in Fort Atkinson.

During the past two weeks, nearly 90,000 items were moved from the library at 102 East Milwaukee Ave. to the temporary site at the former Digi-Star building at the corner of Janesville and West Rockwell avenues.

The original library is closed until a $5.5 million renovation and expansion is complete in early 2011

A groundbreaking ceremony is set April 5 to kick off that project, which calls for remodeling the existing 21,000 square feet of space and adding 12,000 square feet of new space. Joe Daniels Construction Co. Inc. of Madison is the general contracto
