Round 3 in the redevelopment of the 400 block of State Street in Madison Wisconsin

Aerial view of location

A rare attempt to overturn a Madison Plan Commission vote against the demolition of three historic State Street buildings failed on the Madison City Council Tuesday evening.
The council stood behind the commission's decision to not support tearing down three buildings next to the Lisa Link Peace Park to make way for a six-story, 25-unit development with about 6,300 square feet of commercial space. The development has faced years of difficulties with city approvals, with its demolition request now opposed twice.
