ELECTION UPDATE: In southwestern Virginia, Trump tail wags dog

With more than 95% reported, Republican Glenn Youngkin leads Democrat Terry McAuliffe by 67,294 votes.

Youngkin received 67,321 more votes than McAuliffe in Virginia's 10 most southwestern counties.   (Within smaller red box.)  The additional 5 (larger box) are thrown in for good measure.  

61.2% of the state's population is white.

Most of the overwhelmingly white counties listed on the above table were ravaged by opioids and Covid.
