A closer look at Wisconsin's population loss: Buffalo County



Buffalo County's population peaked in 1900, by which time the agricultural focus has shifted from wheat to dairy and livestock.  Agriculture remains the county's primary source of income.

As of July 1, 2014, 20.0% of Buffalo County's population is 65 and over compared to 15.2% throughout the state of Wisconsin.  The county is underrepresented in the 0-to-4 demographic:  5.2% vs. 5.9%
