Bayfield County's pattern of population growth is similar to that of neighboring Ashland County, i.e., outsiders raping and pillaging the land -- mining and forestry -- for their own benefit and then moving on.
As of July 1, 2014, 23.9% of Bayfield County's population is 65 and over compared to 15.2% in Wisconsin. The county is underrepresented in the 0-to-4 demographic: 4.4% vs. 5.9%
