Pre-Monona aerial view of Madison and the Four Lakes region

From Retiring Guy's collection

Postmark:  March 28, 1934.  8 AM.

The message on the reverse side:
Dear J.  Am attending a meeting of a state committee.  I was fortunate enough to have the pleasure of a drive around the lake -- Eagle Heights, The Tent Colony, Picnic Point.  A.

From the History of Monona:
Originally part of the Town of Blooming Grove [population 2.749 in 1930], Monona was incorporated as a village on August 29, 1938. Previous to incorporation, the area had consisted mainly of farmland and summer homes. By 1938, the area included more permanent homes and small businesses.
