A question arose during a recent visit to Barnes & Noble: Does anyone read Westerns anymore?

Titles in the hardcover Double D Western series and a healthy selection of Western paperbacks were already an important element of collection development when stocking the shelves of the Oshkosh Public Library's city and county bookmobiles,   When I first started working in Extension Services in 1978, Louis L'Amour was exceptionally popular.  I routinely wrote a "2" next to any of his titles listed in the monthly Ingram paperback catalog making the rounds among staff selectors.

I can probably count on the fingers of one hand the number of Westerns I've read.   These 2 titles by Elmer Kelton made a strong impression on me.

As for the question posed in the title of this post.....

....there's some 'book related banter' on the topic at GoodReads.

An Absolute Write thread:  Where do "Westerns" readers learn about the books they read?  You'll find the word 'library' here.
