Library Board Member from Hell is Here to Stay
Elgin library board can't remove member suspended from library. (Chicago Tribune, 6/15/2011)
Excerpt: "A number of people in public have the impression that the board is able to vote on whether or not a duly elected official can be thrown off the board, and this is not so," Trustee Herb Gross said.
Trustee Randy Hopp has been suspended from the library four times, most recently for what officials said was his poor treatment of staff. Security guards escort him to board meetings.
Hopp is also banned from Elgin Community College and Judson University and is facing misdemeanor charges of domestic battery stemming from a March incident in which he allegedly struck his elderly parents, authorities have said.
