Sheboygan Residents Speak Up for Their Library
Link to November 16 Sheboygan Press article, "Don't cut library, council told".
Excerpt: The city is facing a $1.7 million budget deficit for 2011, and among the cuts proposed by Mayor Bob Ryan is trimming $300,000 from the Mead budget, which library supporters said would cripple the facility's ability to remain in the Eastern Shores Library System and the regional services it provides.
About 20 people participated in the public hearing for forum, with 16 speakers opposing library cuts. [Emphasis added.]
"I understand that there are limited resources, but this is not the place to make those cuts. Not to the library," said Jennie Andreasen of Sheboygan, a 13-year resident.
