Hudson Area Joint Library President Envisions New Library as Community Center, First-Class Facility
Link to August 6 Hudson Observer article, "New Hudson Area Joint Library Board President Roy Sjoberg lists his challenges". (Thanks to John Thompson for the catch that I missed.)
Excerpt: Roy Sjoberg has had his share of challenging volunteer roles over the years.
He helped lead the capital campaign that raised some $15 million in donations for construction of Hudson Hospital & Clinics in 2003.
He co-chaired a task force that studied and reported on the Hudson School District’s building needs in 2005.
In 2008-9, he was the governor for Rotary International’s District 5960, comprised of 64 clubs in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Sjoberg, an attorney by profession, will need all of that experience to handle what could be his most demanding community service yet.
Last April, Hudson Mayor Dean Knudson appointed him to the Hudson Area Joint Library Board as a citizen member. He was elected president of the board in mid-June following the departure of former president Jim O’Connor.
Sjoberg took the helm as the library was preparing for the move into the former Nuclear Management Co. building at the corner of First and Vine streets. The new facility opened to the public on July 6.
