More than 270 Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers had "perfect attendance" at Logan Airport during the 43-day shutdown, showing up to work despite not being paid, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
"They guaranteed that America wouldn’t shut down – no matter how badly the Democrats wanted average Americans to feel the pain. Their unsung patriotism deserves recognition," Noem said in a statement, pointing a finger at the opposing party.
Most employees at the TSA and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) were expected to work without pay through the shutdown, which began on Oct. 1. Federal authorities reported an increase in TSA and FAA worker absences, with many calling out due to stress and financial pressure.
