Plain and simple: United States has a nut as head @HHS

Emma Penrod reports for WATT on how the Trump administration wants to wreak havoc on global trade:
Top U.S. officials, including Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., suggested this year that allowing HPAI to spread among the nation's flocks would eventually result in chickens becoming more resistant to the disease. Given the myriad risks, Erin Sorrell, an associate professor in the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University, said she and her colleagues felt it was necessary to speak out against the proposal.
“This approach would be dangerous and unethical,” Sorrell and her colleagues wrote in Science. “Allowing a highly lethal, rapidly evolving and contagious virus to run a natural course of infection in poultry would lead to unnecessary suffering of poultry and put other susceptible animals on and near affected farms at risk.”
Uncontrolled spread of the virus could lead to even higher prices for eggs and poultry products in the U.S., and could further destabilize global trade, the paper says.
