The five-story, 79-unit project put forward by Steve Brown Apartments, a Madison-based developer and property manager, comes more than three years after the commission twice rejected Core Spaces’ efforts to construct a seven-story housing tower with luxury amenities, including a rooftop pool and hot tub, at the site. Since the private dorm that previously stood there was demolished in 2019, “there have been a number of fits and starts, proposals for larger apartment buildings, on this site,” said Colin Punt, a city planner.
