2024 Iowa caucuses: Donald Trump did not receive a majority of the votes in 11 counties that comprise 45% of the state's population

 
The 11 highlighted counties show where Donald Trump did not receive a majority of the vote in the 2024 Iowa caucuses.  They have a combined population of 1,443,327.   

The counties include Polk (home to capital and largest city Des Moines), Dallas (Iowa's fastest growing county), Story (Iowa State University), Johnson (University of Iowa), and Scott (half of the Quad Cities).

The majority of the remaining 88 counites, most of them rural, have been losing population for more than 100 years.
