Information about currently available services at Central and branches is found here.

Retiring Guy is revisiting his love of the Central Library's clippings files thanks to photos stored on his iPhone.

Likely the topic of his next 'clippings' post.

Whether you’re a student, a professional or a homemaker, a binder can come in handy for keeping your documents organized and compartmentalized. Even with the increased amount of electronic and cloud storage, three-ring binders are still useful for carrying papers and physical copies of documents.

"Remember Then" debuted at # on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week ending December 15, 1962.  It spent 9 weeks aon the chart, peaking #24 in its 7th week.  It was the Earls' only appearance on the Hot 100, which makes them modestly qualified for 'one-hit wonder' status.   Mitt Romney was 14 at the time, his dad having recently been elected as the Governor of Michigan.

Greetings from Trump's America: Burnett County, Wisconsin, 90% white, Trumpier than it was in 2016, and sicker with the virus since Election Day

    Source:
     Wikipedia
    3rd-party candidates received 25.9% of vote in 1992, 15.2% of vote in 1996, 4.3% in 2016;
Segregationist George Wallace received a 9.4% of the vote in 1968

Trump received 1,052 more votes than he did in 2016, a 19% increase,  Biden received 620 more votes than Clinton did in 2016, an increase of 21%.

Trump's share of the vote increased by 1.8 percentage points.  Biden increased Clinton's share of the vote by 1.4 percentage points.

And where a few Grantsburg High School students put their personal whims over Covid public health mitigation efforts.

“We the students, are tired of not being heard or asked what we think. We don’t think the government should have the power to tell us what we should wear or how we should live, so we are going to do something about it,” she [Kaitlyn Rombach] told the board members during their meeting Monday evening.
“We also think that it isn’t fair for adults to make all the decisions for this when we, the kids and teens in the United States, have not been asked what we think, and we are the most affected by what is going on."

% of population 25 and older with bachelor's degree:
    • 20.8% - Burnett County
    • 30.1% - Wisconsin
    • 32.1% - U.S.
% of population 65 and older:
    • 29.4% - Burnett County
    • 17.5% - Wisconsin
    • 16.5% - U.S.
% of population living in poverty:
    • 12.6% - Burnett County
    • 10.4% - Wisconsin
    • 10.5% - U.S. (they're joking, of course)

Trump's America: White, rural, declining population, less educated, less well-off, much older, gullible.

Burnett experienced a big spike in Covid cases in the weeks following the 2020 election, and its 7-day average is still above what it was at the start of the 2020-21 school year.

    Original 2/24/2018 post starts here.

Burnett County's approximate location is marked with the red highlight.  (Note that the brown extends into Douglas County, where voters gave Clinton 51.1% of the vote to Trump's 43.5%.  Clearly, though, some township voters got their wish.  We'll take a closer look at this shift in a subsequent post.)
