Part of the Kansas City Missouri-Kansas metro area, Johnson County is Kansas' 2nd fastest-growing county.  Its population has increased 831% since 1950, compared to a 12% decrease during the same period in Wyandotte County, the state's unhealthiest county. Johnson County's nonwhite population is 19.5% of its total compared to 57.9% in Wyandotte.
