Still in the news: Lincoln Hills School for Boys, Wisconsin Department of Corrections

Lincoln Hills School for Boys (Wisconsin Department of Corrections)

In a move to consolidate Wisconsin's juvenile corrections operations, a decision was made to close the Ethan Allen School was in 2011.  The boys residing there were moved to the Lincoln Hills School for Boys.

The Ethan Allen School was located in the Town of Delafield, 31 miles west of Milwaukee on Interstate 94. (orange arrow)

Lincoln Hills is located in Irma, 215 miles northwest of Milwaukee. (red arrows)

The decision makes no sense based on the population of the juvenile corrections population.

And even less sense in light of this reporting.

It would seem that this approach works best when the facility is located in or near the community where most of the parents live.
