R.I.P Revel Casino Hotel, Atlantic City (April 2, 2012-September 2, 2014)

Wow!  Not yet out of diapers.

The first 30 seconds of audio.  When you first walk into Revel, this is a real departure from a lot of the other venues here in Atlantic City.  It's obviously designed to be not just a casino and a hotel, but a resort.  The fit and finish, the feel, the quality, the decor, the design are all complementary to each other.

Atlantic City Grapples with Empty Spaces.  (The New York Times, 8/19/2014)

Say goodbye to Atlantic City, baby.   The impending shutdown of Atlantic City’s newest casino, after little more than two years in business, will be another blow to what used to be the unchallenged gaming mecca of the East Coast. Not even the popularity of “Boardwalk Empire,” the historical drama series on HBO, could stem the decline of the big-casino tourist attractions along the shoreline.

Revel’s closing adds to a growing pile of empty gambling, hotel and resort space that the city will be left with when two other casinos close, as scheduled, by the end of September.
