Wisconsin Public Libraries: Another Look At Materials Expenditures

Column Graph 1:  Talk about flat funding.

Total expenditures for library materials has remained in the $25,000,000 range for 6 years in a row.

The peak occurred in 2009 with $25,985,159.  In the past two years, it has declined 2.8% to $25,247,634.







Column Graph 2:  After a 18% boost in AV materials expenditures from 2004 to 2006 ($4,276,960 to $5,048,615), this category settled into a slower growth mode through 2010.
  • 1.7% in 2007
  • 6.1% in 2008
  • 3.5% in 2009
  • 1.1% in 2010

AV expenditures declined 1% in 2011.

Since 2008, expenditures for electronic & all other materials (orange columns) has declined 16%.
