Baraboo Mayor: No Capital Fund Borrowing in 2012
City projects run into budget constraints. (Baraboo News-Republic, 8/26/2011)
Excerpt: Library Director Meg Allen said Friday she hopes the city will be able to put something in the 2012 budget toward supporting the library addition. The Baraboo Public Library Board also has contracted with a fundraising consultant to develop a community fundraising plan.
While the city's capital plan lists the library addition as a 2012 project, Allen said that is not practical.
"It is very premature to say when we might break ground," she said. "We've got a ways to go yet."
Friday afternoon Mayor Liston said the 2012 budget is going to be tight. The city does not plan to borrow any money, so equipment purchases or other capital projects will have to fit within the general operations budget.
