Fitchburg Restores Rookie-Year Library Funding
Link to November 12 Fitchburg Star article.
Excerpt: The proposal to cut funding for the library during their opening year drew criticism from alders and from the library board of directors. In a letter to the council, the board said it had delayed hiring employees in order to save money and that their budget had no room for adjustments.
The only way to cut $50,000, the board argued, would be to reduce the items in the library's collection when it opens, which it said would be a disservice to the public.
