Wentworth Motors On

Link to May 3 Fond du Lac Reporter article, "Parent challenges another middle school library book".

Excerpt:   A Fond du Lac School District committee has been called together to hear another citizen complaint involving a library book.

The reconsideration committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 13, in the District Administration Center to consider parent Ann Wentworth's request to remove the book "Forever in Blue: The Fourth Summer of the Sisterhood" by Ann Brashares from the library at Theisen Middle School.

Wentworth is objecting to several books she feels contain inappropriate content that are available to middle school students, and is circulating a petition asking for a change in school policy about the way library books are selected.

In a letter to the editor, Wentworth wrote that she is asking "for change in a school policy in literature selection to be done by a book committee or panel of teachers, parents or other interested citizens, instead of solely the media specialist.
"

Petition available at care2.com.
989 signature to go.
