Mitchell Schmidt reports:
The case relates to a 10-count complaint filed last year by the state Office of Lawyer Regulation alleging that Gableman violated numerous provisions of the Wisconsin Rules of Professional Conduct for Attorneys during and after his investigation, which turned up no evidence of significant election fraud or wrongdoing.
In April, the office and Gableman agreed to a three-year suspension of the former justice's law license to settle the misconduct violations. A referee attorney overseeing the case has approved the agreement, and the matter is now before the state Supreme Court, which holds a 4-3 liberal majority.
